BBM now offers Indonesian users mobile payments, optimizing their in-App BBM experience
Jakarta, Indonesia – March 21, 2018 – Creative Media Works, operating as BBM, and a division of PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk. (“Emtek”, IDX:EMTK), Indonesia’s largest media content and social media business, together with DANA, today officially launch ‘DANA in BBM’, a new mobile wallet and payments solution that provides multiple payment services within BBM Messenger.
DANA is also part of the Emtek group. DANA, which also means ‘fund’ in Bahasa, is a mobile platform for payment and other financial services that aims to also increase accessibility of digital financial services in Indonesia. DANA as Indonesia’s digital wallet aims to replace conventional wallet as a digital transaction and cashless payment platform.
As a start, DANA in BBM will provide users the ease of paying for daily needs, from mobile top-up, water and electricity bill payment, online shopping, as well as installments in a number of multi-finance services. This new service, available in the BBM Discover menu, enables quick and easy transactions for both Android and iOS users without having to leave the BBM Messenger application.
The digital payments market is entering a new chapter as the Indonesian government speeds up effort to promote the use of e-money for various transactions. Internet users in Indonesia have reached 132.7 million, while there are 177.9 million mobile users as per January 2018. Studies have shown that digital transactions are becoming one of the most popular activities on mobile smartphones, and it is estimated that over 27% of smartphone users have payment applications on their mobile device.
“We’re seeing exciting times ahead. As BBM grows its social networking platform and augments its content and service offerings, a seamless, secure, and scalable payments solution will become a key part of our user experience. DANA in BBM is a testament to the continuous innovation and evolution of BBM, as we strive to introduce new features and services to enrich users experience, as well as to give users meaningful reasons to spend more time within BBM Messenger,” says Matthew Talbot, CEO of Creative Media Works, the company which operates and runs BBM Consumer globally. “Very soon, our users will also be able to make fund transfers to friends, family and groups within BBM Messenger.”
